Website Design for Brighter Blooms

Brighter Blooms is a nursery based in Walton Summit, Preston. More than that, proprietor Matthew Smith is the UK’s leading authority on Zantedeschia, a lilly like flower originating from South Africa.

Brighter Blooms have won numerous awards for their displays of this lovely looking plant, including the Gold Medal award at The Chelsea Flower Show no less!

Needless to say, we were delighted to be asked to design, develop, host and support the new e-commerce website for Brighter Blooms, and we thoroughly enjoyed working with them to make it happen.

So as you can see, the Brighter Blooms website is basically a cross between an online brochure all about the company, a shop on which the Brighter Blooms bulbs and seeds can be purchased, and an event diary which displays the events at which Brighter Blooms will be exhibiting throughout the year.

The website itself was designed on WordPress using Adobe Photoshop to help modify the graphical elements. We used a fully responsive WordPress theme which means that the website will work perfectly on all devices including smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

The shop is powered by Woocommerce which is excellent for smaller scale shops.  Woocommerce integrates seamlessly with Paypal.

We used a third party plugin for the events calendar which works really well.

We’ll be working with Brighter Blooms as we move forward to make sure that the right kind of web content is added to the site to drive relevant traffic, generate sales and grow the business.  We’re already talking about the value of video content, and using the blog to answer frequently asked questions.

We’re pleased to say that the new website started to generate sales pretty much immediately.  We’re very much looking forward to watching it grow (no pun intended).
