Case study: The Storage Works

A modern WordPress website with a bespoke pricing calculator for a growing self-storage business.

The Storage Works operates three professional self-storage facilities across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, providing secure indoor storage, outdoor shipping containers, serviced offices, trade units and car parking. With multiple locations, numerous unit sizes and transparent pricing at the heart of their business, they required a website capable of presenting a large amount of information in a simple, user-friendly way.

Client overview

The Storage Works has built an excellent reputation for providing secure, flexible self-storage across three North West locations. Their business offers far more than traditional storage units, with office space, trade counters, shops and commercial premises also available to rent. Transparency is a key part of their customer experience, with clearly advertised pricing, no hidden costs and a straightforward approach to choosing the right storage unit.

The website needed to reflect these values while supporting customers through every stage of their decision-making process.

The challenge

Self-storage websites often contain a significant amount of information. Visitors need to understand unit sizes, compare locations, explore different storage options and quickly determine how much a unit will cost.

The challenge was to organise this information into a clear, intuitive website without overwhelming potential customers.

The client also wanted visitors to be able to obtain pricing online without needing to contact the office, whilst ensuring the website remained easy to manage through WordPress.

Our solution

We designed and developed a bespoke WordPress website centred around simplicity, transparency and ease of use.

The new website features a clean layout, straightforward navigation and clear calls to action, helping visitors quickly find the information most relevant to them.

Every aspect of the design was created to reinforce trust and make comparing storage options as effortless as possible.

Key features include:

  • Custom WordPress website design
  • Fully responsive layout for desktop, tablet and mobile
  • Clear navigation across multiple locations
  • Dedicated pages for each storage service
  • Storage size guide
  • Office and commercial property listings
  • Simple enquiry forms throughout the website
  • Search engine friendly page structure

Bespoke price calculator

One of the standout features of the project was the development of a bespoke online price calculator.

Rather than requiring customers to telephone for a quotation, visitors can simply select their preferred location and storage unit size before receiving an instant price.

This creates a far smoother customer journey, giving potential customers immediate access to pricing while reinforcing The Storage Works’ commitment to transparent, honest pricing with no hidden costs.

The calculator also integrates naturally into the website, allowing visitors to move seamlessly from browsing storage options to requesting further information.

User experience

When designing the website, particular attention was given to the customer journey.

Whether someone is moving house, storing business equipment or looking for office space, they can quickly identify the most suitable solution without navigating through unnecessary content.

Strong visual hierarchy, carefully organised content and consistent calls to action help guide users naturally through the site.

The result is a website that feels professional, trustworthy and easy to navigate regardless of the device being used.

SEO considerations

Alongside the visual redesign, the website was structured with search engine optimisation in mind.

Clear page hierarchy, location-specific content, descriptive headings and search-friendly page structures help improve visibility for customers searching for self-storage throughout Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

The website also provides dedicated landing pages for different locations and services, supporting long-term organic search performance.

Results

The completed website provides The Storage Works with a modern online presence that reflects the professionalism of their business.

Visitors can now:

  • Easily compare storage options
  • View transparent pricing online
  • Browse multiple locations
  • Learn about additional commercial services
  • Enquire quickly from any device

The bespoke pricing calculator removes friction from the enquiry process while helping customers make informed decisions more quickly.

Combined with a clean design and intuitive navigation, the website provides an excellent experience for both residential and commercial customers.

Summary

The Storage Works required more than a standard brochure website. Their business demanded a platform capable of presenting multiple locations, diverse services and transparent pricing in a clear and engaging way.

Through a combination of thoughtful WordPress design, bespoke functionality and a strong focus on usability, Pumpkin Web Design delivered a website that makes it easy for customers to find the right storage solution while supporting the company’s commitment to openness, simplicity and excellent customer service.
