Distinguishing between pieces of content that still bring value to your website, and your brand, and those that diminish it, is a very important first step. Not every piece of content is created equal. And some content can bring a range of benefits, no matter how old it is. This is usually “Evergreen” content, that is not dated and will remain relevant. - The quality of the content- while any content can in theory by made to shine, if your original piece was fill of errors, and mistakes, it could be a better option to simply create a whole new piece of content, targeting the same keyword. Just make sure you remove the old content, before publishing the new. However, content that is high quality can quickly and easily be updated with more relevant information.

- Providing the best possible UX- users need access to relevant and high quality content to find answers to their questions and be persuaded to buy or sign up. Users that miss out on this will feel that your website does not provide a positive experience, and they will be less likely to buy or sign up.
- Improve SEO- Search engines want to rank websites with information that is up to date, reliable, and original. So updating or removing any content that does not fit the bill will actually help to increase your SEO, as you wont have poor content dragging you down.
